La Púrpura de la Rosa (The Blood of the Rose) traces the love story of the goddess Venus and the mortal Adonis. The first opera to be performed in the New World (Lima, Perú in 1701), this album was inspired by popular South American songs, dance rhythms, instrumentation and improvisational style.
